Reiki
Reiki (pronounced 'ray-key') is a japanese healing
system, based on the balancing of life energy, or
‘ki’. This ‘ki’ is the same as the ‘ki’ in Aikido,
or the ‘chi’ in Tai Chi.
This energy is present in every living thing, and its
easy flow through our bodies ensures our systems are
healthy and in balance. If there is a blockage in
the flow of that energy, due to injury, stress, or a
variety of other factors, the body is out of balance, and
prone to illness, pain and disturbance. Reiki works
at releasing these blockages, to restore a person's
physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
Rei means
UNIVERSAL.
Ki means LIFE
ENERGY.
Reiki = universal life energy.
This therapy's recognition has grown
vastly in the west over recent years, and its popularity
is continuing to grow at speed. It differs from the
other therapies above in that it is not necessarily hands
on, and no manipulation of body tissues is
involved. Many people find it, nevertheless, to be
a very powerful experience of healing.
Everyone who receives reiki has a
different experience, but for the majority of people,
common elements are a feeling of heat from the hands of
the practitioner, and a deep, calming relaxation.
The effects are physical, emotional and mental, sometimes
with deep emotional release experienced during or after
treatment, and pain and discomfort often relieved to
surprising degrees.
